The Michigan Gaming Control Board announced that QCX LLC, doing business as Polymarket US, has agreed to stop offering new sports-related event contracts to Michigan customers. Under the agreement, the operator must close out any remaining open positions by November 25, 2026, resolving immediate state enforcement threats.
Polymarket US will cease offering new sports-related event contracts in Michigan and will automatically close any open customer contracts not closed voluntarily by November 25, 2026.
The settlement, approved by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, stipulates that the state will refrain from taking enforcement action against Polymarket US provided the company maintains compliance with the order.
Michigan regulators have classified these sports-related prediction products as unlicensed sports wagering. Polymarket joins other operators that have agreed to halt similar offerings in the state. According to the board, Michigan recently reached agreements with Coinbase Financial Markets, Inc. and Robinhood Derivatives, LLC, and secured a preliminary injunction against KalshiEX LLC.
Previous federal litigation
Polymarket US previously challenged the state’s authority in federal court in March 2026, seeking to block Michigan officials from enforcing gaming laws against the platform. The federal court denied Polymarket’s request for a temporary restraining order in March and subsequently denied a motion for a preliminary injunction in June 2026. Polymarket’s appeal regarding that ruling is currently pending before the Sixth Circuit.
Following the court rulings, the Michigan Department of Attorney General formally notified Polymarket US on Sept. 10 that it would initiate legal action if the company did not cease offering sports-related event contracts to state residents.
“One by one, from Kalshi to Robinhood and Coinbase, and this latest agreement with Polymarket, we’re holding the national sports betting industry accountable to Michigan law,” Attorney General Dana Nessel said.
Deadlines for Michigan players
Michigan residents using Polymarket US are immediately barred from purchasing new sports-related event contracts. Players who currently hold open sports positions on the platform have until the end of the day Eastern time on November 25, 2026, to close them out voluntarily. Any contracts remaining open past the deadline will be closed automatically by the operator.
