“Gross” and “net” follow Michigan Gaming Control Board definitions (see methodology). — = not reported. Tax as printed in each release. Full precision in the CSV.
Methodology
Every figure is copied from the MGCB workbooks "YYYY Internet Gaming Revenue and Tax/Payments" (Internet-Gaming---YYYY.xlsx) and "YYYY Internet Sports Betting Revenue and Tax/Payments" (Internet-Sports-Betting---YYYY.xlsx), linked from the MGCB revenues page. Each row links to the exact workbook; its publication date is the date of MGCB's monthly press release, which is cited in the row notes. Figures are in US dollars, kept to the cent as the spreadsheet cells hold them (rounded to cents from unrounded computed decimals); nothing is estimated or interpolated, and a missing figure is shown as not reported. Gross revenue on this page is MGCB's gross receipts; net revenue is adjusted gross receipts (AGR), gross receipts minus allowable deductions, mainly promotional credits. AGR is the tax base. Casino covers iGaming including online poker, because MGCB does not split poker out; sports covers online sports betting only (retail sports betting is excluded). Handle is published for online sports only; MGCB does not publish iGaming wagers. Tax is the State of Michigan tax/payments only. iGaming is taxed at 20–28% of AGR on a sliding scale and online sports at 8.4% of AGR. The three Detroit commercial operators pay 70% to the state and 30% to the City of Detroit; tribal operators pay the state share plus, for iGaming, their own governing bodies. The Detroit and tribal amounts are reported separately (in each row's notes) and are not in the tax column. An operator with negative AGR pays no tax, so statewide state tax can exceed the nominal rate times statewide AGR, as in April–May 2026 when Bet365's relaunch posted negative AGR. MGCB publishes no combined iGaming-plus-sports total. Any all-products figure on this page is our sum of MGCB's two reported statewide figures, not a figure MGCB reports, and the two products are taxed differently. Operator rows (licensee and platform) are MGCB's per-licensee table; their tax column is the state share only (for Detroit commercial operators the sports state share is 5.88%, i.e. 70% of 8.4%). The figures are operator-reported and MGCB notes that not all amounts have been audited or reviewed. No revisions were found: prior-year columns in newer workbooks match the original 2024 and 2025 files. Hannahville suspended iGaming and online sports from July to November 2025 and resumed in December 2025. MGCB publishes monthly, usually 16–24 days after month end. Because gross receipts, AGR and handle are defined differently in each state, compare Michigan with other markets carefully.
