Are DraftKings and FanDuel Legal in Canada?
Yes, but only in Ontario and Alberta, where both are on the official operator lists. No other province's regulator lists either one.

Key takeaways
- 01Ontario: iGaming Ontario's regulated-sites directory lists DraftKings Casino, DraftKings Sportsbook and Golden Nugget Casino (Crown DK CAN Ltd.), plus FanDuel Casino, FanDuel Poker and FanDuel Sportsbook (FanDuel Canada ULC). You must be 19 or older.
- 02Alberta: AGLC lists Crown DK CAN Ltd. and FanDuel Canada ULC as registered iGaming operators, and the Alberta iGaming Corporation lists DraftKings Sportsbook & Casino, FanDuel Casino and FanDuel Sportsbook as registered sites. You must be 18 or older and physically in Alberta.
- 03Elsewhere, no provincial regulator we found lists either company; the regulated sites we confirmed are provincial (PlayNow in BC, Manitoba and Saskatchewan; espacejeux in Quebec). FanDuel's daily fantasy terms say it runs in Canada except Ontario and Alberta; we found no regulator approval.
Ontario’s status comes from iGaming Ontario’s regulated-sites directory, which iGO says was accurate as of September 1, 2026. Alberta’s comes from AGLC’s gaming registrants list and the Alberta iGaming Corporation’s registered-sites page. We checked both on September 30, 2026.
Where each one stands, province by province
| Province | DraftKings | FanDuel | Minimum age | Official list to check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ontario | Listed: DraftKings Casino, DraftKings Sportsbook, Golden Nugget Casino (Crown DK CAN Ltd.) | Listed: FanDuel Casino, FanDuel Poker, FanDuel Sportsbook (FanDuel Canada ULC) | 19+ | iGaming Ontario directory |

| All other provinces and territories | Not listed by any provincial regulator we checked | Not listed by any provincial regulator we checked | 18 or 19, depending on the province (see our age guide) | Your provincial lottery or gaming body |
We keep these lists current in our Ontario licensed operators tracker and our Alberta registered operators tracker.
Why only two provinces?
Canada’s Criminal Code lets a provincial government “conduct and manage a lottery scheme in that province” (section 207(1)(a)). That’s why gambling, including online gambling, is run province by province.
Ontario and Alberta are the only provinces where we found private companies like DraftKings and FanDuel on an official regulator’s list. Both let private operators in under provincial control:
- Ontario: iGaming Ontario runs the online market. The directory lists 49 regulated operators and 84 gaming websites, and says you must be 19+ and physically in Ontario to play. Our Ontario licensed gambling sites guide explains how to use it.
- Alberta: AGLC regulates the market, and the Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) “will conduct and manage the commercial market,” according to AiGC’s launch-day release. AGLC says every operator must be registered with AGLC and must have signed a commercial agreement with AiGC. Our Alberta licensed gambling sites guide walks through both lists.
Ontario: what the directory shows
When you filter iGaming Ontario’s directory by operator, it shows:
- Crown DK CAN Ltd.: DraftKings Casino (casino), DraftKings Sportsbook (sports betting) and Golden Nugget Casino (casino).
- FanDuel Canada ULC: FanDuel Casino (casino), FanDuel Poker (poker) and FanDuel Sportsbook (sports betting).
Two rules from iGO’s player FAQs are worth knowing. The minimum age is 19. You can open or access an account while you are outside Ontario, but you can only place bets while you are physically in the province.
Alberta: two lists, one answer
Alberta splits the job between two bodies, so there are two places to check:
- AGLC’s gaming registrants list covers companies. Its CSV export lists both Crown DK CAN Ltd. and FanDuel Canada ULC in the “iGaming - Operator” class. Both registrations expire on July 13, 2027.
- AiGC’s registered iGaming sites page covers websites. It lists DraftKings Sportsbook & Casino, FanDuel Casino and FanDuel Sportsbook, along with Golden Nugget Casino. AiGC doesn’t name the company behind each site. Crown DK CAN Ltd. is the company iGaming Ontario names for DraftKings and Golden Nugget in Ontario.
According to AiGC’s FAQs, you must be 18 or older and physically in Alberta to log in or place bets. Every approved operator also has to connect to AGLC’s centralized self-exclusion system.
Check the official lists above rather than third-party sites. Both included FanDuel on September 30, 2026.
Other provinces and territories
We found no listing, registration or approval for DraftKings or FanDuel from any regulator outside Ontario and Alberta. The regulated online sites we could confirm elsewhere are run by provincial lottery or gaming bodies:
- British Columbia: PlayNow.com, which says it is “the official gaming site for residents of British Columbia, operated by British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC)” and is available only to players located in BC.
- Saskatchewan: PlayNow.com’s Saskatchewan site says it is “managed and operated by Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority within the province of Saskatchewan through British Columbia Lottery Corporation,” and requires players to be Saskatchewan residents, 19+ and located in Saskatchewan (PlayNow SK FAQs).
- Manitoba: Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries links to PlayNow.com and runs “PlayNow Manitoba” social accounts (mbll.ca).
- Quebec: Loto-Québec’s espacejeux site has a Casino section and links to the Mise-o-jeu+ sports betting site (espacejeux.com).
- Atlantic Canada: Atlantic Lottery’s site offers online lottery, casino and Proline Stadium sports games (alc.ca).
- Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut: we did not confirm a territorial online casino or sportsbook site. Our age guide covers what the territories do offer.
If you’re outside Ontario and Alberta, a DraftKings or FanDuel ad you see is not an approval by your province. For what that means for offshore and unlisted sites, see are offshore gambling sites legal in Canada? and our broader guide to whether sports betting is legal in Canada.
Daily fantasy is a separate product
Both companies also run daily fantasy sports (DFS) contests, which follow different terms from their sportsbooks and casinos:
- FanDuel Fantasy: FanDuel’s terms of use say it is available in “Canada (excluding Ontario and Alberta)” and that “In Canada, participation is prohibited in the province of Ontario and Alberta.” This is FanDuel’s own statement. iGaming Ontario’s directory has no fantasy category (its product filters are Casino, Poker, Sports Betting, Bingo and Betting Exchange), and we found no provincial regulator that has approved FanDuel Fantasy.
- DraftKings daily fantasy: DraftKings’ Daily Fantasy Terms of Use (last updated June 30, 2026) set eligibility only for US states and Washington, DC. They don’t mention Canada.
Both sets of terms put the legal risk on the player. DraftKings’ terms say the company “DOES NOT WARRANT THAT YOUR ACTIVITIES OR USE OF THE WEBSITE IS LAWFUL IN ANY PARTICULAR JURISDICTION.” FanDuel’s terms say “YOUR USE OF THE SITE AND SERVICE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.” (Both are in capitals in the originals.)
What changed recently
- July 13, 2026: Alberta’s regulated online market launched with 22 approved sites, according to AiGC. AGLC says that from that date, all operators must be registered with AGLC and have signed an AiGC agreement.
- September 1, 2026: This is the date iGaming Ontario says its directory was accurate as of. It shows both companies’ Ontario sites.
- September 30, 2026: AiGC now lists 34 registered sites, including the DraftKings and FanDuel sites above. Both companies’ AGLC registrations run to July 13, 2027. See our Alberta igaming launch tracker.
Practical next steps
- Check before you sign up. Use the official list for your province, not an ad or a review site: iGaming Ontario, or AGLC and AiGC in Alberta. AiGC says approved Alberta sites display the AiGC logo and the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) seal.
- Take a break across every site at once. In Ontario, BetGuard lets you opt out of all regulated online gambling. In Alberta, AGLC’s centralized self-exclusion program blocks your access to all regulated Alberta iGaming sites and land-based casinos, according to AiGC’s FAQs. In BC, BCLC’s program is called Game Break.

How we checked
On September 30, 2026, we filtered iGaming Ontario’s directory by each company’s legal entity. We downloaded AGLC’s gaming registrants CSV and searched it for both companies. We read AiGC’s registered-sites page and its FAQs, FanDuel’s and DraftKings’ own terms of use, and the online-gaming pages of PlayNow (BC and Saskatchewan), Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, Loto-Québec’s espacejeux and Atlantic Lottery. We’ll update this page whenever either province’s list changes.

Questions
Is DraftKings legal in Canada?
Only in Ontario and Alberta. iGaming Ontario lists DraftKings Casino, DraftKings Sportsbook and Golden Nugget Casino under the operator Crown DK CAN Ltd. In Alberta, AGLC lists Crown DK CAN Ltd. as a registered iGaming operator, and the Alberta iGaming Corporation lists DraftKings Sportsbook & Casino as a registered site. We found no other province that lists DraftKings.
Is DraftKings legal in Ontario?
Yes. DraftKings Casino, DraftKings Sportsbook and Golden Nugget Casino are in iGaming Ontario's regulated-sites directory, which iGO says was accurate as of September 1, 2026. You must be 19 or older. You can open or access your account from outside Ontario, but you can only place bets while you are physically in Ontario.
Is FanDuel legal in Alberta?
Yes. AGLC lists FanDuel Canada ULC as a registered iGaming operator (registration expires July 13, 2027), and the Alberta iGaming Corporation lists FanDuel Casino and FanDuel Sportsbook as registered sites. You must be 18 or older and physically in Alberta to log in or bet.
Is FanDuel legal in Canada outside Ontario and Alberta?
Not as a provincially regulated product. We found no provincial regulator outside Ontario and Alberta that lists or approves FanDuel's sportsbook or casino, so it is not part of any other province's regulated market. FanDuel's daily fantasy product is a separate case: its terms of use say it is available in Canada except Ontario and Alberta. That is the company's own statement, not an approval from a provincial regulator.
Can I use DraftKings or FanDuel while visiting Ontario or Alberta from another province?
Where you physically are is what counts. iGaming Ontario says you can place bets only while physically in Ontario, and the Alberta iGaming Corporation says you must be physically in Alberta to log in or place bets. The age minimum is 19 in Ontario and 18 in Alberta.
How do I check whether a gambling site is legal where I live?
In Ontario, check iGaming Ontario's regulated-sites directory. In Alberta, check AGLC's gaming registrants list and the Alberta iGaming Corporation's registered-sites page. In other provinces, the provincial lottery corporation's own website is the regulated online option we could confirm, for example PlayNow.com in British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
