Key takeaways
- Lottery tickets are the only legal online product with a government behind it, sold one draw at a time through WCLC’s Lotto Spot! app from inside the WCLC region, which includes Yukon.
- You can’t subscribe online from Yukon right now. WCLC has retired both Mail Subscription and SubscriptionSpot.ca and says subscriptions will return on an upgraded Lotto Spot platform.
- There is no Yukon online casino. The only other online outlets WCLC names are PlayNow (Manitoba only) and Play Alberta (Alberta only), and it lists them as places to buy lottery tickets.
Who runs gambling in Yukon
Under the Criminal Code, section 207(1)(a), a provincial government may “conduct and manage a lottery scheme” in its province, alone or together with other provinces. The federal Interpretation Act defines “province” to include Yukon, so the same rule covers the territory. Section 207(4)(c) keeps anything run “on or through a computer, video device, slot machine or a dice game” out of the licensed-charity and fair exceptions. Section 207(4.1) makes one carve-out: a licensed charitable raffle, including a 50/50 draw, may use a computer to sell tickets, select winners or distribute prizes. Apart from that exception, computer-based lottery schemes can only be conducted and managed by a provincial or territorial government.
In Yukon, four bodies share the work:
| Body | What it does |
|---|---|
| Yukon Lottery Commission | An agent of the Yukon government that conducts and manages interjurisdictional lotteries and gives the profits to arts, sport and recreation in Yukon. It is an operator, not a regulator. |
| Lotteries Yukon | Handles the Commission’s day-to-day work, including supporting retailers, answering players and the public, and providing support and services to non-profit organizations seeking program funding. |
| Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) | A non-profit that runs lottery and gaming activities for Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut take part as associate members. Lotteries Yukon says lottery ticket sales in Yukon are a joint responsibility of the Commission and WCLC. |
| Professional Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (PLRA), Government of Yukon | The licensing regulator for charitable gaming: raffles, bingos, 3-day casinos and chase-the-ace lotteries, under the Lottery Licensing Act and its regulations. |
The Minister responsible for the Yukon Lottery Commission prepares the legislation and regulations for interjurisdictional lotteries (the Public Lotteries Act and its regulations) and answers to the Yukon Legislative Assembly.
What you can legally play online from Yukon
Single-draw tickets on the Lotto Spot! app. WCLC sells LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX, DAILY GRAND, WESTERN 649 and WESTERN MAX tickets for single draws in the app, but only to buyers inside the WCLC region. You pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa or Mastercard. WCLC’s app page says the app is intended for residents of the Prairie provinces and the territories aged 18 and older.
No online subscriptions for now. WCLC says its Mail and SubscriptionSpot.ca services have retired. SubscriptionSpot is not accepting new registrations and sales are unavailable. Subscriptions longer than the final April 2 draw are being refunded by cheque. WCLC says subscriptions “will soon be available” on an upgraded Lotto Spot platform but gives no date. Its FAQ still says games can be bought “up to a year at a time” through a subscription, but that line conflicts with its own subscription page. The PlayNow and Play Alberta subscriptions WCLC mentions are for Manitoba and Alberta only.
Buying ahead at a store. Lotto Spot retailers across the region sell advance-play tickets for up to 25 consecutive draws. KENO can be bought for up to 99 draws.
In person, not online. Licensed non-profits can run raffles, bingos and 3-day casino events in Yukon. For raffles, the Government of Yukon says tickets can be sold to non-Yukoners who are physically in Yukon and will still be there for the draw.
Casino sites with “Yukon” in the name
A place name on a gambling site says nothing about who licenses it. iGaming Ontario’s public list of its regulated market includes Yukon Gold Casino as a casino brand in Ontario, which covers players in Ontario only. That name does not indicate any Yukon government licence. The Yukon Lottery Commission, Lotteries Yukon and WCLC do not list any online casino among their products.
Legal gambling age in Yukon
| Activity | Minimum age | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Buying or cashing WCLC lottery tickets, in store or on the app | 18 | WCLC’s 18+ policy; Lotto Spot! app page |
| Entering a licensed 3-day casino event | 19 | Government of Yukon, “How to hold a 3-day casino” |
WCLC also says Lotto Spot retailers may ask for proof of age if a buyer looks under 25.
What changed recently
- 2026 — WCLC retired Mail Subscription and SubscriptionSpot.ca. The final subscription draw was on April 2. WCLC is not selling subscriptions online while it prepares a new Lotto Spot platform, so for now retailer advance play (up to 25 draws, KENO up to 99) is the only way to buy ahead in Yukon.
- 2026/27 — new Lotteries Yukon funding guidelines. Lotteries Yukon says it updated its funding guidelines and the amounts available for 2026/27 so that its contributions to arts, sport and recreation stay in line with ticket-sale revenue.
- June 2023 — governance agreement. Lotteries Yukon publishes a governance agreement, dated June 15, 2023, between the Minister responsible for the Public Lotteries Act and the Yukon Lottery Commission.
We found no official announcement of a Yukon-run online casino or of plans to license private online operators in Yukon as of September 30, 2026.
Practical next steps
- Want to buy a lottery ticket online legally? Use WCLC’s Lotto Spot! app from inside Yukon. Details are on wclc.com.
- Checking whether a gambling site is licensed? Find out which regulator licenses it and for which province. Yukon publishes no list of online casino licences because it doesn’t license online casinos.
- Watch out for lottery scams. WCLC keeps a page on identifying lottery scams.
- Want to take a break? We found no Yukon online self-exclusion program on Lotteries Yukon’s or WCLC’s pages. If lottery play has stopped being fun, contact the help lines below.

Frequently asked questions
Is online gambling legal in Yukon?
Only in a narrow sense. Buying WCLC lottery tickets on the Lotto Spot! app is legal. Yukon does not run or license an online casino.
Can I subscribe to Lotto Max or 6/49 online from Yukon?
Not at the moment. WCLC retired SubscriptionSpot.ca and says subscriptions will come back on its new Lotto Spot platform. Until then you can buy single draws in the app or up to 25 draws ahead at a retailer.
Is Yukon Gold Casino run by the Yukon government?
No. iGaming Ontario lists it as a brand in Ontario’s regulated market. It is not a Yukon Lottery Commission, Lotteries Yukon or WCLC product.
Does Yukon have its own lottery website like PlayNow or Play Alberta?
No. WCLC says PlayNow is for Manitoba and Play Alberta is for Alberta. For Yukon, the online option WCLC names is the Lotto Spot! app.
Can I be charged for gambling on an offshore site from Yukon?
In law, a player can be. Section 207(3)(b) of the Criminal Code makes taking part in a lottery scheme that no province or territory authorizes a summary conviction offence. Yukon authorizes no online casino, so offshore sites, including those licensed by the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission in Quebec, sit outside Yukon law and its protections.
Who do I call about a gambling problem in Yukon?
CMHA Yukon’s Reach Out Support line, 1-844-533-3030, or its counselling service, 867-668-6429.
This guide explains the law and official sources. It is not legal advice and does not recommend any gambling site. Sources were checked on September 30, 2026.
